Halamshiral Halamshiral is a city in Orlais and the former capital of the Dales. It is situated in the eastern part of the country south of the Waking Sea and close to the border with Ferelden.
Halamshiral was built by the elves at the end of The Long Walk in the Ancient Age, its name meaning "the end of the journey" in the elven language. It was built just off the Imperial Highway so that elves from all corners of the world could find it easily by simply following the Highway. The city was under elven control for nearly 400 years. During the Exalted March against the Dales the city was conquered by Orlais. |

Exalted Plains It is called Dirthavaren (the promise) in elvish, and is located in the Dales. The Exalted Plains is a grassland region with a myriad of abandoned forts.
Seven hundred years ago the elven nation fell on these very fields. The elven army was defeated by the human Chantry, defending their land to the last breath. The Exalted Plains are now a contested battlefield in the Orlesian Civil War. As the Veil tears throughout Thedas, the spirits stir beyond the veil to possess the dead. |

Emerald Graves It is a forested area within the Dales in Orlais. The area is an ancient elven burial ground but has been partly occupied by Orlesians in more recent times.
The southern half of the area is relatively civilized, marked with road signs and Orlesian estates, though these have fallen into disrepair during the Orlesian Civil War. Further into the forest however, the woods teem with wildlife. It is said that each tree is a reminder of a life lost during the Exalted March against the Dales. The area is home to many beasts such as wolves, halla, and nugs; many of these animals are unique creatures, such as giants, black wolves, great bears, and snoufleurs. The forest is also the location of scattered elven refugee camps. |

Emprise du Lion Emprise du Lion is an area in the Highlands of the Dales. It is a cold and craggy environment dotted with elven ruins.
The ancient and the modern co-exist in the highlands of Emprise du Lion, where relics of the lost elven nation are scattered among bustling human villages. These hills are home to the village of Sahrnia, known throughout Orlais for its quarry, which produces azure granite of remarkable quality. Emprise du Lion is a snow-covered area formerly occupied by elves. Several ancient elven ruins including a large keep and coliseums are located in the area. The hot springs in the Emprise have attracted dragons in recent years. |
