Isabela is the pirate scourge of two coastlines, four nations, and countless tavern floors. She's equally skilled with dagger and insult, and it's hard to know which cuts deeper. It's rare to see her in one place for long, but with her ship reduced to timbers, Isabela's had to content herself with whatever bounty Kirkwall had to offer. And that meant no end of headaches for the rich and foolish, and no end of amusement for her. She's as desired as she is feared, which is to say, a lot and often. Fall on her blade, or at her feet—a win is a win, in her book. Isabela was the reason for Hawke having to fight The Arishok, when she fled with the stolen Qunari relic. She returned to Hawke's side just before the duel, claiming his influence is what made her so loyal. Hawke chose to fight for her life against The Arishok in single combat and won. Isabela values fun, freedom and getting ahead; she responds well to sarcasm. Jokes, flirting and a person who solves problems in particularly clever and devious ways will delight her. She also approves of anyone who is slightly selfish in dealing with other people, trying to squeeze a little extra money out of them. Getting involved in other people's business tends to annoy Isabela, so helping a character just for the sake of helping and not asking for a reward is not her thing. After the incident in Kirkwall, she went back to the Raiders of the Waking Sea and is now calling herself an admiral.

Merrill is a Dalish elven mage and First to the Keeper of the Sabrae clan. Merrill can recite all of known elven history and navigate the Fade… but has very little experience with the world or even her own people. Now in a foreign land, surrounded by dangers on all sides, Merrill stands for her people and their safety. She is familiar with both the Hero of Ferelden and The Champion of Kirkwall. She and the Warden first met when they were paired up to search for a missing clan member,Tamlen. Tamlen’s disappearance is tied to an Eluvian in the old ruins in which he first disappeared. Tamlen reappeared to the Warden sometime later with signs of the Darkspawn taint consuming and changing him. After these horrible events, Merrill had chosen to keep a fragment of the Eluvian in hopes of cleansing it and restoring the entire mirror to it’s true glory. She sought help from Keeper Marethari but was rejected. Having no other choice, she turned to blood magic, which she learned from a pride demon imprisoned and sundered from the fade atop Sundermount. She used this blood magic to amplify her powers and cleanse the shard. She argued with Marethari that her efforts to learn blood magic were necessary towards the restoration of the Eluvian, and ultimately the survival of the Dalish; with the Keeper publicly opposed to her efforts, she faced the scorn and contempt of her clanmates as a result.
Merrill joined up with Hawke when he first arrived at Sundermount. She took part in a ritual that Hawke was asked to perform on a mountain-top altar with an amulet that had been entrusted to him by Flemeth. This ritual resurrected Flemeth, as a portion of her essence was embedded in the amulet. After the ritual, Merrill left with Hawke to explore the world outside of her clan and possibly learn more about how to restore the Eluvian. Years pass before Merrill brings the subject of the Eluvian up to Hawke. She asked if he would help her retrieve the Arulin’Holm, a special dagger kept by The Keeper, that could help her finish the reconstruction of the Eluvian. In order for her to earn the dagger, The Keeper sent Hawke and his companions on a mission to slay the Varterral that had been killing a number of their hunters. Once inside the Varterral’s cave a member of Merrill’s clan , Pol, was encountered. Upon recognizing Merrill, Pol chooses to run away in fear of her, and straight to his death at the Varterral. Once the creature is slain, Merrill is informed that The Keeper had taught the clan to fear Merrill, claiming that she could potentially bring the Taint back with her blood magic. The mission was complete, and The Keeper gave the dagger to Hawke, but Hawke chose not to give it to Merrill to save her from possibly doing or experiencing anymore damage. Merrill holds it against Hawke for a while, but years pass once more and she finds yet another way to restore the Eluvian. Assuming the original pride demon is still there, Merrill concludes that it may help her activate the Eluvian, since it once claimed to have been present at it’s creation. When the demon, Audacity, is confronted it comes to light that The Keeper released and then proceeded to release the demon within herself. This was necessary to keep the demon from using the completed Eluvian as a way out of its prison. It was also necessary for Hawke to kill The Keeper in order to protect himself and his companions after it reduced the Keeper to an abomination and attacked. Merrill was blamed for the Keepers disappearance and banished from her clan entirely. Merrill then chose to remain in Kirkwall to look after the city elves left homeless by the fighting, and continues to protect them from the fighting between the mages and the templars.

Bethany Hawke (born 9:12 Dragon) is Hawke's younger sister and Carver's fraternal twin. An apostate mage, she received her magical training from her father, who was also an apostate. Bethany was forced to flee with her family once the Darkspawn fell on Lothering. The whole family was lucky to survive the ogre attack.
Bethany spent a year working with her elder sibling in servitude to repay the debt that got the family into Kirkwall. After the year, Bethany and Hawke plannd on joining The Deep Roads Expedition as it is their last resort to acquire enough wealth and influence to cow the templars from scrutinizing them too closely. Though she appreciated the trouble her family took to keep her out of the Circle, the running, hiding, and constant fear for what their future would have held have taken their toll. She began to express guilt when she saw how much the family sacrificed to keep her free, especially when she learned their mother gave up her life as a noble to elope with their father. Sometimes she even wonders whether everyone would have been better off if she'd been sent to the Circle from the very start. Through their time in Kirkwall, Bethany and Hawke worked on reclaiming the family estate. After amassing the fifty sovereigns needed to fund the expedition, Bethany volunteered to join her elder sibling in the Deep Roads venture. Her mother however, begged her to remain at home. Hawke ultimately decided to leave her at home. Bethany was arrested and taken to the Gallows just as Hawke returned from the Deep Roads. She remained in contact with her family and adjusted quickly to life in the Circle. She passed her Harrowing and become a senior member of the Circle, in charge of teaching young apprentices. Bethany fought by her siblings sides against Meredith, and is grateful for their support of her people. She has come to the conclusion that her magic comes from the Maker and he wouldn't want mages to be treated as they are. She was last seen on Warden business near the border of the Anderfels, accompanied by her brother Carver, when Aveline was instructed to move both of Hawke’s siblings to an area of safety. Bethany is kind and gentle, and extremely understanding of peoples emotions and plights.
Anders has a rocky history with the Circle of Magi. Taken from his family when his talents first manifested, Anders was still a boy the first time he ran away from the Circle. Recaptured and returned dozens of times, Anders was still considered only a reckless scamp by First Enchanter Irving, who thought his easy temper and sense of humor made him no true threat. But during his final escape, Anders befriended the Warden Commander of Amaranthine and accepted an offer to become a Grey Warden. Life as a Warden changed him, introducing him to the free Fade spirit called Justice, who slowly convinced Anders to turn his attention beyond his personal suffering. Infused with Justice's fervor, Anders offered to merge with the spirit in the name of mage freedom, starting them both down a dangerous path that turned the purity of Justice into the unthinking hatred of Vengeance. Anders was convinced that the Chantry's entire structure must be overturned to free mages completely from their control and so he joined a group of like-minded apostates who were slowly wearing away Kirkwall's Circle by helping other mages escape. Torn between thinking himself an abomination or continuing to fight for mage rights, Anders turns his rage on The Chantry once more. Hiding behind claims of wanting to rid himself of Justice, Anders manages to have Hawke help in destroying The Chantry. Hawke unknowingly helped him make a bomb that blew up The Chantry, killing Grand Cleric Elthina and everybody else inside, and raining fire and debris on half of Kirkwall. He tells Hawke that he wanted to make Thedas see the injustice of the Circle and thus to change the world. Anders' fate was placed in Hawke's hands, and since the two were extremely close, the champion decided to spare his life. Anders went on to help Hawke fight in the battle to protect mages from Meredith's bloodlust. After the battle was one, he fled with the Circle of Magi and stayed with them for a while. A lot of mages blamed him for forcing them to live as fugitives and he had to move on. His current whereabouts are unknown. Anders is still alive, but Justice both literally and figuratively, are haunting his every step.

Carver Hawke (born 9:12 Dragon) is Hawke's younger brother and Bethany's fraternal twin. After his father died, Carver started down a military path and partook in the Battle of Ostagar. Loghain Mac Tir's betrayal forced theFerelden army into a rout and forced Carver to flee with his family once the darkspawn had attacked Lothering. Carver spent a year working with his elder sibling in servitude to repay the debt that got the family into Kirkwall. Carver was particularly bitter in the Free Marches city. He felt no real connection to the city and believed his mother was trying to force a past on the family that she had long left behind. Even so, Carver cares deeply for his family and worked for their welfare in Kirkwall. Carver and Hawke planned on joining The Deep Roads Expedition as it was their last resort to acquire enough wealth and influence to cow the templars from scrutinizing them too closely. As Hawke gathered money to pay for the Deep Roads expedition, Carver gradually saw why people fear magic. Having grown up surrounded by magic, Carver did not see it as something to fear, though he never truly understood it, until he witnesses the darker side of it from Kirkwall's blood mages. He eventually showed more sympathy toward templars, particularly after learning he was named after the templar who freed Malcolm Hawke from the Circle of Magi. After amassing the fifty sovereigns needed to fund the expedition, Carver joined his older brother on the expedition into the Deep Roads. The expedition almost cost him his life after he contracted the Taint. His brother desperately sought the help of nearby Grey Wardens to save his brothers life. Carver survived The Joining, but had to leave his old life behind. He only rejoined his brother in later years to help with The Qunari threat and fight alongside him against Meredith. He was last seen on Warden business near the border of the Anderfels, accompanied by his sister Bethany, when Aveline was instructed to move both of Hawke’s siblings to an area of safety.
Carver is very prideful and takes value in proving his worth to his family and comrades. Aggressive behavior impresses him, he is also a pro-Chantry supporter and supports the Chantry's actions. Carver despises being inferior to his sibling most of all.
The Vaels believed that their youngest son of three, Sebastian, was a disgrace to the family name, and would be a weight around his brothers' necks. They forced him into the Chantry, exiling him from their principality of Starkhaven. While he was not without faith, Sebastian did not wish to give up his life in service to Andraste so early in his existence, and with the aid of the compassionate Grand Cleric Elthina, escaped. Elthina helped him to regain his faith however, and after reflection, Sebastian returned to the Chantry, this time willingly, and through the front door. Embracing his new role, Sebastian took vows of poverty and chastity to become a sworn brother of the Chantry... until word of his family's deaths forced him to take up worldly concerns once again. Banding together with Sebastian and his unshakable loyalty and excellent aim, Hawke choose to avenge Sebastian's murdered family to reclaim his title. Their target was an old Kirkwall noble family who was once allied with Sebastian’s own, The Harimanns. A desire demon had corrupted the family and drove Lady Harimman to become obsessed with her desire to seize Starkhaven. She masterminded the assassination and placed Sebastian's feeble cousin on the throne as a puppet ruler. Johane Harimann was killed by Sebastian & Hawke and the demon was defeated. In the aftermath, Sebastian becameconflicted over whether he should remain in the Chantry or retake Starkhaven…
By 9:37 Dragon, the Divine began to fear that the situation in Kirkwall was growing out of control and that more extreme measures might be warranted, potentially even an Exalted March against the city itself. Sebastian was asked by Elthina, along with Hawke, to meet with Sister Nightingale, the so called "Left Hand of the Divine" and persuade her this was not necessary. Before the rendezvous could take place however, they were attacked by a Mage extremist faction, The Resolutionists. Unable to persuade the Divine's agent, Sebastian attempted to persuade Elthina to go to safety at the Grand Cathedral in Orlais. Elthina refused however, not wishing to abandon Kirkwall during a crisis and so Sebastian resolved to remain as long as Elthina did…
When Anders destroyed the Chantry, killing Elthina and many others, Sebastian demanded Hawke kill Anders or else he would retake Starkhaven and seek vengeance on all of Kirkwall. Hawke chose to spare Anders, forcing Sebastian to leave. He vowed to go to Starkhaven and raise an army to hunt down and kill Anders, but was held back by Aveline’s reinforced soldiers when acting on his threat. Sebastian is currently the Chantry advisor in Starkhaven. The throne is still in contention there. Without him, it would be open war among the noble families.
Despite all that’s happened to him, Sebastian’s faith and will remains unbent and unbroken. He tries his best to remain a neutral party, soothing and supportive in his ways. He is chaste and sweet, finding the good in all people. The Grand Clerics death brought out a side of Sebastian that he himself wishes he could repres , and drives him to seek Anders’s head with a vengeance. There’s still a long way to go for him til his wounds have healed, especially since Anders is still running free.
